Yarnbury returned to Horsforth this week from their excursions in the Benidorm Rugby Tournament with their reputation enhanced having given a good account of themselves in Spain last week. That tournament included Lemington Spa,Syston (Leicestershire),Cardiff Dragons and Torre Viecca (who most Yorkshire people know for its British Community).Yarnbury lost both their games to Cardiff and Lemington by close scores but Syston were the eventual winners of the competition. As mentioned last week the veterans were competing at Witley Bay / Rockcliff in the super 10's competition.

For this game Yarnbury included several up and coming colts with Alec Peel at hooker alongside senior props Andy Butterfield and Tristan bainbridge.Young centre Greg Iveson coming into a centre spot alongside first team regulars such as Simon Threlfall and Graham Maycock.Joe Churnin from The Hornets was given a run out at full back.

Yarnbury backs immediately showed too much pace for the Midlands One League outfit and scored xeveral tries through Simon Threlfall,Ellis Gomersal and Graham Maycock and continued throughout the game to have too much pace out wide and through the gaps.Newport forwards were working hard throughout the game but the touring side were second best on a rare sunny afternoon.

Other scorers were Simon Threlfall,Ellis Gomersall (two) and a 40 metre dash from second row Dave Gornell and Joe Churnin carving his way under the posts for the final score.George Armitage a Zambian international from Newport scored a try in each half as a consolation for Newport and converted one.

All that remains now is for the award ceremony at Yarnbury later this month to bring down the curtain on an excellent season
