This was the classic game of 2 halves. Deepings started well and put the home team under pressure which led to Dan Young scoring a good try, this was converted by Felix Cunningham.

Deepings now had a spell in the game where they were in constant trouble with the referee giving away silly penalties for offside.

This self inflicted pressure told as West Norfolk scored a converted try. This seemed to spur Deepings on and they went on to play some superb rugby.

From a lineout Tom Williams found his scrum half, Scott Davis, who wasted no time in getting the ball away. The ball went through several pairs of hands before Sam Papworth set up Dan Young for his second score.

From another lineout Chris Day broke away to put Deeping even further in front.

Deepings fourth try was made by fly half George Fitzpatrick. His superb footwork got him behind the West Norfolk defence, the ball eventually came to prop Levan Stapleton who went over to make the half time score West Norfolk 7 Deeping 22.

Deepings suffered a serious injury blow at the start of the second half when fullback Tom Kendrick received a nasty head injury and could take no further part in the match.

Deepings could not get out of their own half and were put under intense pressure. Deepings defended very well but in the end West Norfolk scored twice to make the score 19-22.

Deepings did now manage to get into the West Norfolk half and Dan Young was tackled just short of the line. As the Deepings players tired tackles started to be missed and West Norfolk scored twice more to make the score 33-22 to the home team.

Deepings did not give up and George Fitzpatrick scored to cap a very good performance by the Deeping fly half. The final score was West Norfolk 33 Deeping 27. In the end the 9 point margin between the team was the fact that West Norfolk managed four conversions, mainly from in front of the posts, to Deepings one.
