Kenilworth RFC are pleased to announce several new signings for the up coming 2010/11 season, and are looking forward to a successful season in National League 3, Midlands.

As well as several members of last years nationally successful Colts side (Jake Gibson and Bobby Thompson to name two) stepping up into senior rugby, new signings to the Club include Joss Andrews, a highly talented Stand Off, who joins from National 2 side Rugby Lions where he enjoyed an excellent season last term. Also joining from Rugby Lions are Chris Murphy and Mark Warrilow. Mark is a mobile Prop Forward whom possesses an excellent work rate, whilst Chris is a quick and powerful Centre/Wing who has a formidable strike rate.

Other captures include young Outside Half Adam Canning who joins from local side Old Leamingtonians with the potential to have a big impact at a higher level of rugby. Jed Boyle, from Banbury, is another exciting prospect at just 20 years old, and ply’s his trade on the Wing where he displays a blistering turn of pace. Rhys Llewellyn is a strong and powerful Front Row forward who is making the step up the league ladder after playing at local side Berkswell and Balsall, as is former KRFC Colt and senior player Full Back Tom Kendall who re-joins from Earlsdon RFC, where he was a regular feature of their success in recent seasons.

Returning to the Kenilworth RFC senior squad is Jake Wombwell-Povey, a powerful and abrasive Back-Row forward who returns after graduating from University. Tom Nicholson, a tall and athletic Number 8 has formally signed after first appearing for KRFC as part of their link up with Warwick University Medics several seasons ago. And former KRFC Colt Max Ward, a robust and strong Centre returns to the club and has showed up well during the pre-season programme.

Kenilworth will be adding further names to their squad in the next couple of weeks as they look to become a serious force in the division. The signs are that the KRFC faithful can look forward to an exciting brand of rugby being on show as the club demonstrates its ambition to progress through an investment in providing Warwickshire's premier rugby playing environment.

KRFC supporters can watch some of the new signings in action this Thursday at 7.30pm, 26th August, when the squad faces Bournville RFC. This will be an excellent work out for the team as Bournville have been recently bolstered by several signings from near neighbours and National One side Moseley RFC. This game will also be the official opening of the club’s new floodlights which have been 100% funded by the RFU.

This will be the last fixture before the league opener away at Scunthorpe on 4th Sept. Also travelling with the first XV will be the colts who will be playing in a curtain raiser before the first XV fixture.
