This game by rights should have had an end of season feel to it but these local derbys are much too intense for that to happen and made for an exiting game at Brownberrie Lane.In essence it was the ideal game to finish the Horsforth clubs season. With Yarnbury's form so good since the turn of the year, despite the loss of points due to draconian administrative issues, they had matched or bettered a keighley outfit on form.Either way they were well matched and for this encouter were without Johnny Moore at Stand Off,Lawrence Smith coming up from full back and Andy Greaves returning after his studies being absent since February.Daver Moss was missing due to work committments and the able Tom Fox was again promoted from the Hornets.Either way Yarnbury were as strong as possible from their ever growing first team squad.

Yarnbury started off where they finished last time with forwards securing good ball and working downfield into the Keighley half. From a scrum to the home side quick heeled ball from Adam Reynolds was moved down the blind side through full back Andy Greaves joining the line for the pace of Chris Flowers on the left wing to score in the corner for an unconverted try.On 16mins the inform Chris Flowers intercepted a long pass out wide from Alex Brown for a 50 metre run in to double the lead converted by Lawrence Smith. At this stage a lesser team could have folded but Keighley are fourth in the tanle for good reason and their pack began to make good ground and retain ball and for the remainder of the first half attacked the Yarnbury line only for the Horsforth defence to hold steady with excellent defense particularly fromcentre Danny Thompson and back rowers Richard Longstaff and Tom Fox.However,Yarnbury were given a warning on the break when Keighley Stand Off reduced the arrears at the break to 15-6 with two well taken penalties against one for Yarnbury by Lawrence Smith.

Straight after the break Keighley continued in the assendency and scored a try from close in with Scrum half Scott Dyson reached out to the whitewash for Alex Brown to convert.Lawrence Smith extending the lead again for the home side with another penalty.keighley hit the front with another Brown penalty and the keighley forwards pushed over from a maul. Two further penalties from the star kicker pushed on the Keighley score either side of a great break from Yarnbury No8 Joe Mills was just stopped short.

Yarnbury let rip in the final 10 minutes with fast moving breaks and long range tries from Chris Flowers and Andy Greaves were just not enough as they went unconverted and the final nail in the coffing was a drop goal from the 100% boot of Keighleys Alex Brown with every kck successfull winning the game for the away side.

An impressive season for Bob Hood's squad with 11 wins and mid table security apart from the eight point deduction which will ensure Yorkshire 2 rugby next season but much goodwill ringing in the ears of the Horsforth Club never overun in an exiting season.

Half time score 10-7. Scoreline flattered B&B with pressure all Yarnbury and a lucky bouncing ball not dealt with and hacked through for their only try the only time they threatened.

Second half younger and fitter Yarnbury Hornets ran the ball every opportunity with wide expansive running and passing game.
