With many of the regular first XV taking part in the Rockcliffe 10's tournament, Seghill fielded a fine blend of youth and experience for their final game of the season, away to league leaders Gateshead.
It was always going to be a tough challenge for Seghill, but they battled hard and were competitive throughout - though Gateshead had the advantage of having a settled and very experienced squad, and deserved their victory.
The Seghill players can now look forward to their end of season tour to Blackpool, next weekend, and a well deserved rest after a very tough season.
