Ilkeston 3XV 7 - Kesteven 2XV 46
Kesteven played the ultimate game of two halves and after a terrible first 40-minute display ran out comfortable victors against Ilkeston.
From the off it was clear that Kesteven were the stronger, quicker and more skilful side, however time after time in the first half passes were spilt, thrown forward and more frustratingly to the opposition resulting in Ilkeston actually taking a 7-0 lead. A try late in the first half put Kesteven level and with a verbal battering dished out at the half time team talk a re-invigorated side ran amok, scoring 6 further tries and creating numerous other untaken chances.
Faolan Lidstone, Dave Tweddle, Aaron Whittaker, Gavlaa Purvis and Andy Pearsey all scored a try apiece and Rob Cooper grabbed a brace. Matt Harland and Lidstone landed 5 of the 7 kicks between them and ultimately the scoreboard showed the difference in class between the two outfits. Kesteven welcomed back a number of former Colts and with a few of the elder statesmen in the side still recovering from injuries and away on family duties proved to be more than adequate replacements. A week break for Easter will see the 2nds recharge for their final 2 league games, hoping to secure 2 victories and another league title.
