Southwold Swallows 56- Thames Toucanettes 0

Southwold Swallows continue their top of the league success, with their 9th win remaining unbeaten in the RFUW South Eastern 3.

It was the Swallows who were first to score after inside centre, Chantelle Savage, picked up a loose ball and breezed past four players to score, with Scrum Half, Laura Mac Donald converting. Southwold over powered the Thames scrum and with a quick hands down the backline saw winger Donna Cooper charge down field scoring the second try for the Swallows. Thames came fighting back and with some quick hands ended up in the Southwold 22, maul formed and Nina Roe stole the ball from the Thames winger, Laura Mac Donald seeing the space ran the length of the pitch getting the 3rd try, and converted.

Southwold made a couple of substitutions with seconds rows, Michaela Scarle and Laura Marjoram being replaced by Tracie Merritt- Bitters and Carro Bäckström, Kim Roberts replacing Elissa Cox at Fly-Half. With fresh legs the backline were just to quick for Thames with a quick scissor back inside Savage scored again, Mac Donald converting.

Second half, Southwold still not content with their 36-0 lead, and the backs having a good afternoon of running rugby, it was Ellisa Cox who scored in the corner after returning to the field, no conversion was not made. Thames however still eager to get some points on the board did well to win an Southwold defending scrum, though Southwold solid defense and strong tackles kept Thames from making much progress. With the clock running down the visitors threw everything they could into the game, another scrum, Bev Whyte with a number 8 pick up did the usual hand off on two defenders and scored. Further tries came from Donna Cooper and Elissa Cox. Credit is due to Thames toucanettes, for keeping up the pressure, making Swallows work for their win throughout.
