Malvern U12s A – 21

A lively Bromyard team put the visitor’s defence under pressure from the kick off as Malvern failed to control the ball and knocked on to concede possession. Malvern were clearly surprised and not quite alert to the Bromyard threat but they held firm and eventually broke out of their own half to make a rapid drive up field. This resulted in Malvern’s first try as Harry Robinson grounded the ball.

Bromyard were immediately put back under pressure after a better Malvern restart which set Jake Wrafter up for their second try.

The remainder of the first half developed into a battle for forward domination with Bromyard consistently quicker to the ball at the breakdown and Malvern repeatedly wresting the ball back from them.

The second half continued as the first finished but the Malvern backs were more alert to their opportunities. Scrum half Miles Richardson made good use of the options that quick ball from the Malvern forwards provided but

Bromyard kept working hard and made good use of short line outs to push Malvern back into their twenty two. Malvern’s defensive resolve and some great tackles by Jack Curtis and Sam Hughes slowed the Bromyard attack but they eventually broke over the Malvern line. Good work from Harry Robinson prevented a Bromyard try when he lifted the ball carrier back before the ball could be placed.

Malvern’s third try came when Sam Ladd completed another fast wide play which the home side were unable to prevent. Dan Batty maintained his one hundred percent conversion record for the day to give Malvern a deserved victory.
