Supermarine played London Welsh on Sunday, Marine struggling for numbers only travelled with 13 players. Supermarine started strong, attacking well, taking an early lead with a penalty kick. The pace set at the outset proved difficult to maintain with 13 players and when London Welsh scored a breakaway try, they never looked back. London Welsh took advantage of the overlap and punished Marine, taking the ball out wide every time.
Marine made it difficult for the opposition to gain possession and prevented further tries with good pressure and defending, not giving up the fight. Supermarine were close to scoring on at least 3 occasions and a final push in the last 10 mins saw them rucking and driving London Welsh back the whole length of the pitch, before losing possession and the opposition scoring their final try and conversion. The defeat was touch to stomach for Marine who worked hard through out, the player deficit proving too difficult to overcome.
