Full credit to Bromsgrove for keeping going to the end of the match, but
they played against the Wild Ones who were on fire, and their own team
were certainly not up to the same standard of play. Even though it was
one way traffic, Worcester did not suffer from white line fever, and
played to to their well rehearsed patterns of play, spreading the ball
wide, and supporting the ball carrier. With the Wild Ones forwards
supplying half backs George Wooton and Cameron Hunter, plenty of ball,
the backs played some enterprising, and inventive rugby. Throughout the
three sessions played, tries were scored on a regular basis. The first
session laid the foundation for an impressive mornings play. Worcester
started in a determined and dominant mood, forcing Bromsgrove on to the
back foot with wave upon wave of attacks, which Bromsgrove could not
cope with. The Wild Ones started to score tries on a regular basis,
which continued throughout the sessions. Max Smith, looking more
dangerous with every game he plays, was rewarded with two tries, the
prolific Willem Stanley also bagged a brace. Other scores came from Oli
Gore, settling in nicely at full back, abrasive centre Luke Gailey, and
elusive Max Hawksworth. Jack Dutton crashed through two defenders to
open his account for the season, as did Sam Long who is improving
weekly. George Wooton, and Cameron Hunter, who are developing a very
good half back relationship, got one each. The ever present, and always
supporting, Alex Forrestor also touched down. The last try of the
morning was scored by Kian Moysey, who cut inside his winger, stepped
the full back , and touched down. Cameron Hunter, George Wooton, and Oli
Gore all kicked four conversions each to complete the scoring. On Sunday
21 Feb, Worcester travel to Pontypridd to play a triangular tournament
with the hosts and Bridgend. This will provide Worcester with a
benchmark as to their progression this season, as Pontypridd for
certain, are a quality team.
