The first Match for Bishop was against Billingham who they had met previously, Billingham opened the scoring in the first 5 minutes of the game with a superb try and followed with the conversion to go into the lead by 7 points. They followed this with another good try and conversion straight from the start of play. Bishop responded well with a good run by Alex Bielby who scored a magnificent try and who also gained the extra two points from the conversion to bring the score to 14 points to 7. The game resumed and after some good defensive ply by Bishop Auckland Billingham broke away to score a try and the conversion was kicked in the last minutes of the first half.
Billingham opened the scoring in the second half after some very good play by both teams. Billingham’s second try of the second half came after Bishop were unlucky to lose the ball after a good line out. Billingham score a good try but failed to score with the conversion so the score was brought to 40 - 7. Billingham completed the match with a final try and conversion ending the match on the score of 47-7.
Bishop’s second match was against the host team Blaydon who played some excellent rugby. Bishop played some good defensive and attacking moves but were unable to score. This may well have been due to the weather which got worse as the game went on. Blaydon were too good for Bishop on this occassion and won the match by 42-0, despite some good defensive play by Ben, Edward and Jordan.
