Supermarine Ladies hosted London Welsh on Sunday in a game that suffered from the unruly weather conditions, the high winds playing a major factor.

The first half Marine played against the wind and held most of the possession but found it difficult to put any points on the board. Great rucking from London Welsh stopped Marine's flow and the constant pressure forced Marine to make mistakes. Scrummaging was the order of the day, London Welsh wheeling the scrum on numerous occasions causing frustration to the Marine pack. At half time the score was 0-0.

Marine's play improved in the second half with the wind behind them; rucking and scrummaging was much cleaner resulting in quite a few balls being turned over. Leila Johns took advantage of the high winds and her accurate kicking led to Marine gaining ground. Good runs from Sammy Way and Claire Chard off the back of the scrum finally led to a breakthrough try with Chard putting it over the line. Marine controlled most of the second half putting in hard tackles with the backs also making good runs on the wing to gain ground. The last play saw a huge team effort from Marine and a good scrum and ruck allowed Way and Chard to get the ball over the line again. Supermarine put effort in until the end, grit and determination winning through.

Marine play at home against Bristol next Sunday.
