Your News Camberley Ladies v Chesham Ladies

Despite a spirited performance by Camberley Ladies, they were defeated by Chesham at the weekend. A closely fought first half saw both sides square up to each other in a physical game. Chesham held more possession overall but were unable to penetrate Camberley's unrelenting defence. After repeatedly trying and failing to crash the balls through the backs, Chesham tried a kicking game but Camberley's speedy backs were on form to gather the ball. Eventually, Chesham's quick thinking scrum-half spotted a gap in the defence off a scrum and took the ball blind to score an unconverted try in the corner.

The second half saw more of the same but with Camberley using possession well to build on their attacking game. The forwards worked well in the scrums and started to win ball against the head, unsettling Chesham and giving Camberley more confidence. However, Chesham fought back and when Camberley were penalised for holding on to the ball on the ground, they took a quick penalty from the five metre line to run in a second try. Although the Black and Ambers started to build up momentum again, the clock was against them and the final whistle ended the game at 10-0 to Chesham. This was Camberley's best performance of what has been a difficult season. Forward of the match went to Number 8 Dee Mackenzie-Jones and Back of the Match went to Centre Denise Walsh. Next week they face their final league game against London Welsh.

Camberley are urgently recruiting and will continue summer training ahead of next year's season. If you are interested, please contact the Captain Charlie Wildman on Ruggerbabe@aol.com or 07985 357602
