The Greens made the long haul to Aberdeen Grammar on Saturday as Premier Two
league leaders with maximum points from the first three games.
Star centre, John Coutts, had a tummy bug and unfortunately could not
travel. His place was taken by Colin Murray with Michael Graham being added
to the bench.
The winning start was brought to an abrupt halt with a 48-17 defeat and,
more worryingly, losing the try count 7 tries to 3.
The Greens opened the scoring when flanker Ross Gibson charged down a
clearance kick to score. However, the home side took complete control and
led 24-5 at the interval, poor first time tackling by the Greens made it
easier for Grammar.
Hawick's try scorers in the second half were Colin Murray and Bruce McNeil
with Neil Renwick converting one.
Though well beaten the Greens had a good finish to the game and should
probably have had a bonus point for a fourth try but they were kept out by a
solid defence.
The whole squad will have to focus this week for the game with Gala who
pushed Stirling County all the way on Saturday.
