Nottingham Rugby has received a good response to its new Sports Apprenticeship and Rugby Training Scheme launched last month.
The latest addition to a string of opportunities offered to young people by the club is aimed at 16-18 year olds looking to combine academic studies with high quality rugby training.
Chairman Geoff Huckstep said: “Nottingham Rugby is justifiably proud of its award-winning Community Development Programme with partnership schemes in place with Capital One, Nottinghamshire County Council and Rushcliffe Borough Council as great examples.
“These schemes are vital to encouraging young people to take part in physical exercise in a fun environment delivered by our players whilst at the same time attracting them and their families to watch the team in action.
“A very welcome addition to the opportunities for young people is the recently launched Sports Apprenticeship and Rugby Training Scheme.
“The scheme is open to males and females within the Notts, Lincs and Derbys region with a maximum of 25 people on the course.”
The programme will involve a high quality education programme at level two and three alongside coaching delivered by Nottingham Rugby staff.
SR education will deliver an appropriate level BTEC Sports Programme, NVQ and key skills dependant on GCSE results.
The Nottingham Tennis Centre will be the base for delivery.
