Bishop Auckland 14 - Barnard Castle 28

Bishop Auckland under 12's were at home to Barnard Castle at the weekend and found themselves under pressure from the kick off, spending most of the first half defending their own try line. Bishop soaked up the pressure well with some fine tackling coming from Callum Parker Howe, James Dent, James Peareth and Liam Stephen, Barnard Castle eventually managed to find a way through opening the scoring. Bishop's attitude was excellent and immediately from the kick off levelled the score as Rhys Jary burst onto a ball from Luke Richardson and crashed over the line, Jary kicked the conversion levelling the score. With only seconds to go in the first half Barnard Castle broke down the blind side and scored in the corner the try was converted and Bishop were unlucky to find themselves behind at the break.

Bishop started the second half strongly and applied good pressure with Parker Howe and Nathaniel Walton causing the opposition's forwards problems. Bishop's backs saw plenty of the ball with some excellent individual performances from Alex Beilby, Josh Dewhurst, Chris Chapman and James Peareth. Leon Kierl playing on the wing made three try saving tackles helping to keep Bishop Auckland in the game. Barnard Castle scored twice mid way through the second period as the Bishop team began to tire. A number of changes were made with Joe Edmonds and Ryan Flemming making fine substitute appearances in what was Bishop Auckland's best performance of the season. Bishop managed another try towards the end of the game with Jary beating several players with a typically aggressive run to score his fourth try in four games which he converted himself.
