Supermarine Ladies travelled to Bristol on Sunday for their away tie against Old Reds. After beating Old Reds earlier in the season and travelling with a full 15, with even a sub to spare, Marine were feeling confident about their game. This showed in the first 20 minutes with 2 tries being scored in succession and a third before half time.
But Marine became complacent in the second half with Old Reds coming out all guns blazing. Marine's slow reaction to penalties and magnetic force to the rucks left a hole in defence resulting in two tries, scored one after the other; this left only 3 points between the sides.
But Marine showed resilience and fought back, with the forwards showing good support play and getting there each time for the ball to be fed out nicely to the backs. Overlaps and gaps were created and Marine took advantage, scoring four more tries to seal the game.
Supermarine Ladies play Red Ruth next Sunday, 5th. K/O 2:30pm at Supermarine Rugby Club.
