Sevenoaks u15's succumbed 0-17 to a strong Blackheath side in the final of the Kent Cup at Aylesford on Sunday.
Weakened by injuries & the adverse wet weather conspiring against Oak's open running game they however battled against a physically much bigger opposition & attacked through the threequarters from the kick off just failing to register a touchdown in the 1st 5 minutes. After A Saunders penalty kick just drifted wide an unfortunate defensive error & then a forward drive over the Oak's line saw Blackheath deservedly register a 12-0 half time lead.
Oak's however refused to lie down & again were just held up & driven back short of the line after a determined run by hooker Ross before Blackheath proceeded to seal the match with another well worked try.
For Oak's the back row of Hadi, Bennett & Nohre worked tirelessly, the latter making his debut in the forwards while Owen at full back always posed a threat in attack. This was a team effort though & despite the disappointment of losing at the final hurdle can be proud of justifying their seeding of 2nd in Kent.
Squad - Cooper, Ross, Chant, Beet, Wagstaff, Medhurst, Smith, Lonnergan, Walker, Bennett, Nohre, Hadi, Shirtcliff, Goodhew, Saunders, Beale, Short, Pearce, Tan, Roberts, Owen.
