Deepings Under 10’s long unbeaten run came to an abrupt end on Sunday as they suffered home defeats to resilient sides from Stamford and Oadby.

Both games against Stamford followed a similar pattern. Deepings kept strong pressure from the visitors in check and were only one try down at half time.

After the break, however, Stamford’s superior organisation and passing proved too much as they ran in unanswered tries to win the first game 4-0 and the second 5-0.

The game against Oadby started more promisingly with early pressure from Deepings resulting in a try by Matthew Lindley. Deepings continued to control much of the half, helped by strong performances from Adam Organ, David Thomas, Anthony Thomas and Alistair Jones and it came as little surprise when Lindley doubled his try tally later in the half.

However, Oadby came back into the game with a try either side of half time, and then added a third midway through the second half. Deepings responded putting Oadby under great pressure but the visitors held on to win 3-2.

Deepings Under 10’s team: Matthew Lindley, Adam Organ, David Thomas, William Gaches, George Robinson, Michael Rogers, Bobby Pearce, Alistair Jones, Anthony Thomas, Riley Payne, Freddie Moore
