Victory in this friendly against league hopefuls Fakenham made it six wins on the bounce for the Swallows, Southwold Rugby club's ladies team. Southwold now have three crucial matches in four weeks, playing Peterborough on the common this weekend, Chemlsford away 25th and then Harlow at home on February 8th.

The Swallows lent Fakenham two players throughout the match to play 14 a-side and both teams will be very satisfied with their afternoons work.

Fakenham hope to join the league next season and they certainly have enough size and enthusiasm but it was the Southwold's better team organisation, pace and experience that won the day.

Nikki Wallace and Amy gregory at half back kept the game moving whilst Sharon Larter, Laura Marjoram, Laura Nutt and Sarah Doddington did lots of the dirty work ensure they had plenty of ball to use. Lorraine Calver had fine match after her return from a short break and Nina Roe continues to threaten out wide. Bev Whyte expressed herself in the open spaces bagging four tries with Nikki Wallace and Michaela Scarle getting one each. Amy Gregory added the conversion.

With the game played in four quarters Southwold were able to give two new pairing valuable game time. Michaela Scarle and Anna Friberg in the second row and Shelly Harlow and Anna Harrison in the centre. Both worked well as did the expermiment of prop Sarah Doddington moving to hooker. All of which will make selection interesting for the starting 15 this Sunday as only Kim Shrubsall and Jeama Doddington are unavailable for selection.

The Swallows would welcome all support possible for this crucial match on Sunday on the common with a 2pm Kick-Off
