Your News Oakmedians 41 - Supermarine 7

Supermarine travelled to Bournemouth on Sunday to face Oakmedians in very cold conditions; but this wasn't to bother Supermarine as they travelled with only 12 players due to sickness and injury, although this didn't stop Theresa Bickell, who played scrum half with a severe bout of tonsillitis. Oakmedians were a very fit outfit with their backs showing immense speed as they took advantage of the overlap on numerous occasions. This didn't dishearten the Marine side; they battled and never showed signs of giving up, showing great team spirit with Libbie Jones sometimes having to cover 3 positions in the scrum and Sophie Rudge running from her attacking 22 to put in defensive tackles 5 metres from the try line. Oakmedians ran through the majority of their tries in the second half, showing good vision as they broke the gameline through the middle exposing gaps in a very tiered Marine outfit. Marine did manage to score a try in the second half, Sammy Way doing well to dive over the opposition at the try line, after an emense team effort. Both teams really enjoyed the hard fought game, the muddy conditions not hindering on the sportsmanship.
