Old Albanians made it ten wins on the bounce as they inflicted only the third defeat of the season on leaders Richmond to keep up the pressure at the top of the table. Richmond’s lead

has been cut to six points as a result of their 20-17 defeat in Hertfordshire. Worthing are level on points with Old A’s in second following a 24-16 win over Launceston. But they had to

rely on two late tries from Sam Hewick and Rob Smith to achieve their sixteenth win of the season.

Hartpury College’s promotion challenge suffered a blow at Clifton as they went down to a 24-20 defeat. Outside centre James Golledge crossed for two tries and Ben Roberts kicked

four penalties and a conversion for Clifton who made sure Hartpury suffered back- to- back league defeats for the first time in their history. Henley Hawks leapfrogged Hartpury into

fourth place thanks to a bonus- point win away to bottom- of- the- table Westcombe Park. The Hawks scored six tries – two of them by James Comben, who also kicked eleven points.

Winger Taniela Bakoso raced in for four tries as Shelford ran out 34-9 winners over struggling Dings Crusaders, who occupy the third relegation place. Barnes and Westcombe Park

are still beneath them in the table, though, with Barnes losing 37-12 to Taunton in front of a bumper Hyde Park crowd of 1,640.

Elsewhere, there were wins for Southend and Redruth, who recorded their tenth win at the Recreation Ground this term with a 36-15 success over Lydney.
