Ealing go into the festive break still top of National League One despite a poor finish to 2011. Defeat at home to fellow title- chasers Rosslyn Park means
Mike Cudmore’s men have now won just one of their last five league games. First half tries from Mark Lock, Michael Baxter and Miles Mantella set Park on
their way to a 22-23 win.
Jersey jumped up two places in the table to second – ahead of Park on points difference – following a 32-5 win at home to Blackheath. Ben Harvey’s side
have conceded just 11 points in their last three outings and have won eleven games on the bounce, meaning they will head to Ealing for their next fixture on
January 7th full of confidence.
Cinderford celebrated Phil Vickery’s arrival on the coaching staff with a 40-0 rout of Birmingham & Solihull. Rory Teague, another ex- Gloucester man,
converted all five of Cinderford’s tries in a fine all- round display. Stourbridge remain one place below Cinderford in the third relegation spot despite recording
a first- ever league win over local rivals Coventry. Birmingham prop up the division while Barking are second from bottom after Cambridge claimed their first
win in four attempts at Goresbrook.
Wharfedale continued their good run with a fifth straight win against Fylde. The Greens owed the victory to a last- minute try in the corner from Simon
Horsfall. Elsewhere, Macclesfield won at Sedgley Park and the north east derby between Blaydon and Tynedale was postponed.
