Playing for the Canada sevens team, having also recently competed for his country at the Rugby World Cup, new Cornish Pirates signing Matt Evans received gold on Sunday in the inaugural rugby sevens tournament at the Pan-American Games.
Providing a massive boost for rugby in Canada, the 'Canucks' beat Argentina 26-24 in the final played in Guadalajara, Mexico, which made it six wins from six games played in the competition.
Matt, who played in the second half of the final, was proud of all his team mates and he was absolutely delighted to win a gold medal prior to his excitement of joining the Cornish Pirates.
