Camp Hill Ladies proved their worth making it a clean sweep for both the Chargers and Crusaders in a Sunday Rugby extravenganzer!
Last Sunday saw Camp Hill Crusaders make their debut appearance in the Midlands Cluster League playing host to Rushden and Higham. In a one sided affair the Crusaders managed to put 41 points past the visitors thanks to a combination of efforts from Alice Mary Smith, Amanda Vigus and Claire Rylance. Captain Elaine Limond expressed how immensely proud she was of the team's performance and gave a warm thank you to the loaned players who helped the Crusaders field a team.
With the Crusaders setting the bar high the pressure was on for Camp Hill Chargers as they took to the field to play second placed Carlisle.
It wasn't long before the Chargers took control scoring 4 tries in the first half sealing the fate of a fading Carlisle. The second half saw much of the same with a further 4 tries by Lucy Pollard, Rebecca Lewis, Jo Kilby and Jo Hart. A near perfect Chargers performance in attack and defence refused to let the visitors into the game, only marred when the Carlisle centre caught the Chargers napping bulldozing her way down the line before Jo Kilby caught her just short of the line. A quick pop up to a support runner gave Carlisle reason for a slight yelp of excitement as they got 5 points on the board just before the final whistle.
The strength and depth of Camp Hill Ladies is coming on in leaps and bounds and it was a very proud day for everyone who celebrated this momentous occasion. Both teams now have a week off as attention is turned to County games. Special mentions to Alice Mary Smith, Nancy Stone, Jo Hart, Claire Rylance and Rebecca Lewis as they showcase their talents for North Midlands this weekend.
