The top four sides in the division are separated by a single point after Westoe, Caldy and Luctonians all took advantage of Loughborough Students' slip up
away to Leicester Lions. The league leaders were beaten for only the second time this season as two tries from captain Gareth Collins inspired the Lions to a
26-22 win at Lutterworth Road.
Westoe are level on points in second after a man- of- the- match performance from Ollie Steadman steered them to a 35-12 win at home to Otley. The goal-
kicking No.8 managed to score two tries as well as being successful off the tee on three occasions.
Third- placed Caldy were the only away side to produce the goods on Saturday, an eight- try exhibition seeing them leave Kendal with maximum points. The
Merseysiders are joined on 32 points for the season by Luctonians, who made it three wins from four outings with a 22-15 victory at home to Preston
Grasshoppers.
At the other end of the table, Harrogate achieved what was only their third win of the campaign with a 24-18 success against Stockport at Claro Road. The
win lifted ‘Gate to 14th in the table, with Kendal and Hull Ionians occupying the bottom two places, Ionians lost 48-18 away to a rampant Sheffield Tigers side
that crossed the visitors’ line on eight occasions. Two tries from Warren Oliver helped Bromsgrove see off Huddersfield in an entertaining game at Finstall
Park, while winger Will Robinson also scored a try double in Hull’s 34-16 win against Nuneaton.
