from two with a 13-28 success over a Harrogate side unrecognisable from their opening day win over Leicester Lions, while Stockport sent out a real
statement of intent by beating title hopefuls Loughborough Students at the Memorial Ground. Last season’s Three North champions took the game to the
Students from the start, laying the foundations for the 27-21 win by scoring 14 unanswered points inside the first 15 minutes.
Luctonians lie in second in the nascent league table, ahead of Otley on points difference. Fly- half Will Burton and veteran No.8 Paul Hulland both crossed
the Leicester Lions line twice in a 43-14 win for the Herefordshire side, while two tries from lively full- back James Twomey proved decisive in Otley’s hard-
fought 20-15 win over Hull.
Elsewhere, Preston Grasshoppers kicked off their home campaign with a 27-15 win over Caldy, Nuneaton clung on for a bonus- point win over Kendal at
Liberty Way despite a late comeback from the Cumbrians and Hull Ionians edged out Huddersfield in a fiercely competitive derby.
