Travelling to one of the league
favourites on the second day of the
season was always going to be tough
for the new squad. Too many
mistakes cost the Bees dearly with
Jack Preece admitting that their
game needed to be tightened up to
avoid defeat in the future, “Jersey
fed off our mistakes and were strong in the set-piece but we need to
tighten up the way we play”. Former Jersey player, Dan Hawkes opened
the scoring for Bees with a penalty before Jersey took over the game to
be 33-3 up. This was before Kiwi Scrum Half, Warwick Lahmert ran
virtually the length of the pitch to score Bee’s first try of the season.
Bees: Nanci, Winter, White, Connolly, Pons; Hawkes, Lahmert; Padian, Preece, Tau, Quarrie,
Todd, Brightwell, Farmer, Hopley. Reps: Long, Darkintis, McMillan, Gale, Lowdon.
