Swanage & Wareham RFC welcomed Bletchley to Bestwall in what was Swans last home game of the season.
Swans seemed to be under pressure from the visitors from the start giving away a few penalties. After six minutes Bletchley capitalised and centre George Harman worked his way over the Swans try line to give Bletchley a 0 – 5 lead. His brother Philip Hardman added the extras 0 – 7. The game was evenly fought for much of the rest of the half, and after 25 minutes from a ruck close the the visitors line skipper Robert Elford worked the ball out to fly half Phil Graves who scored a converted try close to the posts 7 – 7. Swans seemed to get control of the game in the last quarter, Bletchley gave away a series of penalties and Phil Graves managed to convert one 10 – 7 at half time.
A couple of penalties to each side early in the second half saw the score advanced to 13 – 10 to Swans, but neither side could seem to get control of the game, with both defences tackling hard. However from a penalty after 70 minutes Swans kicked the ball to the 5 metres line and a Swans catch/drive move had prop forward John Sheldrake powering his way over the line. Phil Graves added the conversion giving Swans a 20 – 10 lead. Swans must have fallen asleep as from the kick off Bletchley worked their way over Swans try line as No. 8 Dagan Probert scored half way out. Philip Harman added the conversion 20 – 17. In the last few minutes Swans gave away another penalty which, with two minutes to go Phil Harman slotted to give both sides two league points each with the 20pts each draw.
