High Wycombe 36 - Swanage & Wareham 13

Swans had to travel away to High Wycombe in a re – arranged game which should have been played before Christmas when snow prevented the game being played as scheduled.
Swans started well, putting the Wycombe defence under pressure, but just as they were looking to score, the ball was spun out to the hosts winger Drew Labri who went down his wing to score a try against the run of the play. Fly half Pete Connell added the extras 7 – 0. Swans continued to have the better of the game, and after fifteen minutes, a loose ball was created, a ruck formed and Swans prop forward Tom Frampton was on hand to score under the posts. Phil Graves converted 7 – 7. The game see-sawed with both sides having scoring chances before Swans went into the lead when Phil Graves added a penalty goal after 34 minutes. 7 – 10. However just before the break, a catch/drive by the Wycombe pack had hooker Tom Blackburn crossing the try line. Half time 12 – 10.
Two minutes after the interval a penalty to the corner, and another catch/drive move by Wycombe put the score at 17 – 10. Phil Graves reduced the arrears with a penalty goal, but the High Wycombe pack was putting Swans in trouble at the scrums, and soon were dominating the play. Two drives by the Wycombe pack resulted in two tries taking the score to 29 – 13, but Swans were still playing the more attractive rugby. In the final few minutes Drew Labri escaped along his wing again and went in for Wycombe’s final try leaving the result at 36 – 13 to the home side.
