The Bees make the short journey to near neighbours Moseley at Billesley Common this Saturday (19th March KO 3pm) for their second Relegation Playoff fixture in their six match campaign.
Both sides will be keen to register their first win, with Bees losing 22-30 to Esher at Damson Park on Sunday and Moseley also getting no return from their long trip down to Plymouth Albion on Friday evening.
After Round 1 of the "Pool C" Relegation Fixtures, taking into account win bonus points carried forward from Stage 1 of the Championship season, Esher and Plymouth both have 11 points with Mosley and Bees on 5 and 4 points respectively.
"We’re pretty disappointed not to get off to a winning start against Esher” said Bees Director of Rugby Russell Earnshaw. “We failed to translate our early forward domination into points and two tries in quick succession in the fourth quarter effectively put the game beyond us, even though we got a consolation try at the end.”
“That’s behind us now and all our focus is now centred on the Moseley game this coming Saturday. Local derbies between the two sides are always keenly contested affairs and they will be as determined as we are to get a Playoff win under their belts. With home advantage and having beaten us home (handsomely) and away (narrowly) in the main part of the season, Moseley will probably start as favourites.”
Earnshaw will name his side to face Moseley later on this week, with flanker Mike Denbee - who is likely to be out of action for up to four weeks with an ankle ligament injury - the only casualty from the Esher game.
