After Swanage & Warehams three away trips on the trot it was good to be back at Bestwall again, and playing hosts to local rivals Oakmeadians.
Swans immediately took the play into the Oakmeadians 22 and from a scrum the ball was worked back into the forwards and hooker and captain Robert Elford sliced through the Oaks defence to score Swans first try. 5 0 after just two minutes. Swans continued to dominate the play, but Oaks defended bravely and it was not until the 22nd minute that Swans scored again. Following a scrum the ball was worked along Swans three-quarters to outside centre Darren Wilcox who scored a try close to the touchline. Fly half Phil Graves added the extras 12 0. Swans were guilty of giving away some penalties in the next ten minutes, and Oaks fly half Ryan Anthony landed two of them to bring the score back to 12 6. However Swans were not to be denied for long and just before half time a drive by Swans pack took them from the 22 metres line, up to the posts and flanker, kiwi James Maginn scored his first try for Swans. Phil Graves converted 19 6 at the break.
Five minutes after the restart a long kick out of the Oaks 22 was fielded by Swans winger Charlie Rowberry, who starting from inside his own half, worked his way through the Oaks defence, side stepped a couple of challenges and after a thrilling run touched down in the right hand corner. 24 6. Midway through the half, as Swans pounded the Oaks line, once again Robert Elford was on hand to round off a Swans move to put Swans up by 29 6. With fifteen minutes to go Swans other winger, colt Glynn Alner scored his first try for Swans as he finished off a move which started at a scrum, was passed through the backs and Alner went in at the corner. 34 6. Swans made a few substitutions after this, but Oaks managed to score a consolation try with three minutes left on the clock as full back Jack Secher scored a try in the corner, leaving the final score at 34pts 11pts
