CHAMPIONSHIP leading point scorer James Arlidge has pledged his future to Nottingham after signing a new two year contract, starting from the 2011-12 campaign.
The fly-half joined the Green and Whites last July from Magners League side Newport Gwent Dragons and made an immediate impact in the East Midlands when he smashed home 21 points on his competitive debut—kicking a record equalling seven penalties in one game.
The 31-year-old Japan International has made 19 appearances for the country and was the top points scorer in the 2008 IRB Pacific Nations Cup with 56.
Speaking after the signing the deal, Arlidge said: “I’ve really enjoyed being part of the Nottingham Rugby team on and off the field this season. There is a brilliant team culture and it’s great to be part of such a positive and ambitious club.
“It’s been great working with Glenn and his staff and I’m thankful to them for giving me an opportunity to be part of it here for the next two years.”
Director of Rugby Glenn Delaney said: “James has played a crucial role in the team this season, showing great quality under pressure and fitting into the squad very quickly. We’re very pleased to have James remain with Nottingham for the next two seasons as we look towards an ambitious future.”
