This was a blood and thunder game, played with intensity, physicality,
and high skill levels. The notorious slow start from the Wild Ones
failed to materialise, as they come out of the blocks at a gallop. The
forwards stamped their authority straight away, putting together several
phases of driving rucks, forcing Bredon onto the back foot. There was no
let up in the set piece either, as the pack continually drove Bredon
backwards, with Sam Long, and Bradley Smith to the fore. With Bredon
forced into their 22, and seeking respite, a kick ahead was wonderfully
taken at pace by Will Tibbitts, whos quick feet, and pace, saw him glide
through the defence to touch down. The conversion was missed. From the
kick off Worcester attacked at every opportunity, but heroic last ditch
defence from Bredon, kept them out. Eventually the pressure the
Worcester forwards put on Bredon, had to give, and from a break by Joe
Bellamy, Bredons defence was stretched, and an off load from Ed
Griffiths enabled Jacob Matthews to crash over. Oli Gore converting. The
second half saw Bredon have more possession, but there attacks were
snuffed out quickly, and Worcesters counter rucking, began to give them
the lions share of possession. Willem Stanley broke down the blind side,
it was taken on by JJ Hunt and the rest of his forwards. From the
quickly won ruck, Lawrence Stephens crossed the whitewash. George Wooton
converting. With the clock running down, Worcester had a scrummage
between the Bredons 22, and half way line. The ball was fed to fly half
Cameron Hunter, who popped a lovely inside ball to the rampaging Jack
Dutton, who scythed through the defence, when he was eventually stopped,
his offload was taken on by Jacob Matthews who touched down to complete
his brace. Oli Gore converting. On the full time whistle, the Bredon fly
half, chipped the ball ahead, and he won the race to touch down. He
converted his own try, to complete the scoring.
