Millwall's ever improving Under-15s are at the peak of their game after handing
out a thrashing away at Bexley on Sunday.
With Millwall's senior first XV without a game at the weekend it was down to the Isle of Dogs club's young Lions to shine.
Flyhalf and Captain Bobby Grace contributed a 37 point haul, consisting of
two tries and an impressive 9 conversions from 11 attempts.
The visitors ran in 12 tries in what proved to be their most
polished display of the season, but it didn't go all their way in the first
half.
Ever present Fullback Jacob Lajolie opened the scoring for the visitors
after some good ball movement, however Millwall spent much of the opening
exchanges defending gallantly on their own line.
A Danny Hunt try extended the lead to 0-14 despite the defensive pressure
and when Elliot Nagel crashed over to make it 0-21, Millwall thought they had
the game in the bag.
Bexley fought back to grab a try of their own against the run of play but
from then on, Millwall's slick handling had them scoring at will.
Tries to Alfie Duffy (2), Liam O'Keeffe, Michael Dola-Lami, Max
Grecins, Nathan Rachdi, a second try from Hunt and two from Grace sealed the
massive scoreline for Millwall.
"That was a really entertaining game" said U15 Head Coach, Gary Mclaughlin
"I really feel for Bexley, they did their homework on us and it's clear
they've been working hard since the last time we played them.
"But I really couldn't fault any of our guys today, everyone of them put
in 100 per cent.
"There are still a few silly mistakes that we need to eliminate from
our game, and matches against some more experienced clubs will be an
interesting test for us."
Despite the long list of try scorers to choose from, Coach Mclaughlin
singled out flanker Jon Woods as man of the match:
"He so quick off the mark at every ruck, every scrum. He was just
outstanding all around the park and played an exceptional flankers' game."
Millwall Under-15s face Hackney Bulls in a fortnight's time before returning
to Millwall Park for a match against Bexley on March 13.
