Malvern U13s 53
Bredon U13s 25
After a long break the Malvern coaches decided to use this visit from Bredon to give the whole squad a chance to run off some of the Christmas roast turkey.
Starting with an A team based line up Malvern quickly found their way to the Bredon try line but had their first attempt disallowed for illegally handing off. The Malvern pack regained possession at the Bredon twenty-two after winning a free kick and a sharp run at the Bredon defence from Atkins opened the way for Robinson to score with Batty easily converting for the extra points. Malvern added further tries through Robinson and Whiteman with Batty adding a further three conversions to end the first twenty minutes with a thirty-three point lead.
After making several changes to their line up Malvern took a while to settle. An opening fifty yard run from Curtis ended with lost possession at the ruck and Bredon made full use of this opportunity to steal a try in the left corner through some good hard forward work. Showing their tenacity under pressure Malvern managed to break and score a try against the run of play when Atkins found space in the centre to ground the ball. A further two tries were added by Malvern with a single try pulled back by Bredon to end the second period of play.
In the final period the Malvern Development squad were given some playing time. Robinson remained on the pitch and scored the try of the match after tackling, stripping the ball and running forty yards to score.
The changes gave Bredon a chance to work their way back into the game and with more possession available, their backs started to make headway. The visitors added a further three tries to their tally but two great runs from Hall almost resulted in tries for Malvern showing that despite facing the Bredon A string; the play was not all one way.
