With the Worcester Wild Ones not having played for 2 weeks, due to the
weather, they took a little while to get into their stride. As usual the
opposition were much bigger, so the Wild Ones had to play a quick up
tempo expansive game, and when they did this, Hereford struggled to
cope. But when the Wild Ones mauled , they lost out every time to the
bigger, and stronger, Hereford boys. The scrummaging all morning
favoured the put in, and the line out was also all square, but when the
Wild Ones played to their strengths, playing a rucking game, and
spreading the ball wide, Hereford were stretched all over the pitch.
Played in cold and wet conditions, the skill level was very high, and
allthough Worcester were always 2 to 3 scores in front, Hereford showed
character to always fight back, and narrow the gap. Two 35 min halfs
were played, and those spectators who braved the cold were treated to a
fine display of junior rugby, and quality tries were scored from both
sides. The Wild Ones scored a total of 11 tries during the match, all
scored at regular intervals. Lawrence Stephens, George Wooton, and Alex
Forrestor all bagged a brace each. Will Tibbetts, JJ Hunt, who was
excellent all of the match, Willem Stanley, and Max Smith, all scored
one each.To complete the scoring Oli Gore kicked 6 conversions, and
George Wooton 5. With training organised for next weekend, the Wild Ones
will go into the New Year with bags of confidence, as they have played
very well, so far, this season.
