The Wild Ones travelled to Stourbridge with a mixed squad, but still had
too much pace and talent, for Stourbridge. As always, Worcester got off
to a slow start, and with Stourbridge putting a lot of width on the
ball, and using their big forwards to get on the front foot, the Wild
Ones were 12 pts down after ten minutes. Eventually things started to
settle down, and Worcester began to put phases of play together, and in
particular their superior rucking game coming to the fore. With this
quick possession, Worcester began to attack with fervour. They reduced
the arrears when Will Tibbitts raced down the blind side from a scrum,
and outpaced the covering defence. This was quickly added to when Alex
Forrestor jinxed his way therough the defence, after fine approach work
from the forwards. In the second period, Worcester began to dominate,
playing their quick uptempo game, and with Stourbridge struggling to
cope with the pace, and in particular the driving rucks, further scores
came from Ed John, Max Smith, JJ Hunt, and Tibbitts doubled his tally.
Jacob Matthews scored the final, and best try of the day, after chasing
a kick ahead, he gathered the ball on the run,and crashed over.Tibbitts
and Cameron Hunter converted 2 tries each, with JJ Hunt adding the
fifth. Joe Bellamy was a central figure in a tremendous defence, and
again the Wild Ones superior fitness, and technical ability, saw them to
victory.
