Worcester Wild Ones Under 12s had a mixed day at the Annual Sillhilians
Festival. In the Pool stages they played current champions Lichfield
first. Worcester were unusully slow out of the blocks, and took until
the second half to get into their stride. Unfortunatly they conceded 2
tries in the first half. But back they came, and were quickly rewarded
with a Will Stanley try. As hard as they pressed to draw the game, a
resolute Lichfield defence held firm. Next up was bogey side Droitwich.
There is very little between these two sides, but an entertaining to and
fro match, saw Droitwich win by two tries to nil. The Wild Ones played
Bromsgrove in the last pool match, and at soon they started playing to
their potential. A dominant performance saw them turn out three tries to
nil victors , with tries from Max Smith, Willem Stanley, and Alex
Forrestor. The reward for this victory was a plate semi final agains
Sutton Coldfield. With Worcester now playing to their potential, they
gave another good team performance, wining two tries to nil, courtesy of
Will Tibbetts, and Will Shaw. In the final they played old adverseries
Bham Solihull, but the best performance was saved till last. Ed
Griffiths, who had a superb tournament , scored a fine try, Lawrence
Stephens crashed over after fine approach work from the forwards. Oli
Gore, put in a excellent try saving tackle, just before half time, and
it inspired the Wild ones to seal the game. From the kick off, Cameron
Hunter secured the ball on the floor, his forwards quickly rucked the
ball, fast hands from Kian Moysey, set Luke Gailey free, who cantered
down the wing, cut inside, and crashed over. With seconds remaining, B &
S reduced the arrears, but it was too late to stop a fine Wild Ones
Plate win.
