Malvern Rugby Club Director of Rugby has made his first major signing for the team’s Midlands League One campaign that starts in September. Simon Dawes, who has played National League rugby at Worcester, Lydney and Stourbridge, signed registration forms to join the Spring Lane outfit this week. Dawes is a wing forward who can play on either flank and brings a wealth of experience with him. “I’ve been after Simon for some time” said Robins. “He is just the sort of player we need to bolster our squad as we make the big step up to Midlands One. Many of our members saw and were impressed by him at our match against The Guanos recently. I’m talking to several other players in an effort to strengthen our squad and replace retiring stalwarts.”
To prepare for the new season, Robins has organised a tough pre-season warm-up period in August, with games against Cheltenham and Burton pencilled in and a definite fixture against Weston super Mare from the South West One league. As details are confirmed, they will appear on the club’s award winning web site www.malvernrfc.co.uk
